I’m not sure why, but the Spirit within has wanted me to stop writing on here. What happens now needs to be between my Gods and me. I have already stopped writing so much and I thought I owed it to everybody to have one more post before I go.

Spiritually, I have stepped through a door and it is dark. I’m not sure what lies ahead. I’ve never felt like this before but I must keep listening intuitively and thinking with my heart. I suppose I did not eventually feel connected to my own practice when I felt like I wanted to take pictures all the time to share on here. I suppose that my poems, once between me and the Goddess, I started to look at too much to see what I could share. Sometimes, we over-extend ourselves in trying to spread out little pieces of our souls in hopes of helping others. I want to take the ego out of my intentions, too.

What I am supposed to be doing: Singing alone and to others. Painting alone and for others. Counseling myself and for others. Feeding myself and for others. But I need to take back my writing and my magick, for the time being and be alone with it. It needs to stay in solitude. It needs to be humbled and dynamic. It needs to be my own secret. It is the womb of my own creativity and the womb is dark like the black soil that supports all new growth.

If you have ever read my blog and was in anyway inspired- I am so glad. If you have ever liked or commented- I am so appreciative. I am also thankful to my husband, who supports every journey I partake in. Talking to the outside world has been good for me. Growing up in a family of hermits I did not know how to stretch myself into opening up to the world. Writing this blog has been a wonderful adventure that has helped baby-step me into performing on stage and connecting with people from all over the world. So thank you- thank you for being a part of this experience. Maybe someday, when I’m an old woman who has already experienced what the world has to offer and the Spirits tell me I’m ready- I will be back. But for now, I welcome simplicity,  I welcome the light of true fire to warm me. Let my thoughts be my own.

vending

Finally!!!                                           She is here…

I felt her creeping up through the soil.

I heard her awakening the roots and waiting seeds.

I tasted her in the flowing sap and smelled her in the bird filled breeze.

Persephone: Awakened.

Many new things are awakening now. My spirit arose with the March Moon last night and I blessed my sacred tools in the last winter’s snow. Twitchywitchy has become greatly successful in just one week. I had my first vending event at a woman’s magickal conference over the weekend and my magnets, poetry booklets, paintings, prints, jewelery and painted up knick-knacks were a hit. Yes, you heard right: my poetry book is finished! I took the best of my spiritual poems over the years and combined them into a poetry booklet to nourish the mystic soul. I would have never pursued this project if it hadn’t been for my many friends nudging me along the way to get it out there.

I’m still in the process of posting up more items to my store, so more busy work awaits me but I am finding it so rewarding to be able to inspire others through art. As I got to sell face to face with my customers I was able to hear about the sentimental emotions they had already attached to my handcrafted items. One woman bought a moon painted cow for her wife as a symbol of their closeness. Another woman loved a red painted pentacle bowl and planned on using it to store her flowers she had gotten while in the hospital for a kidney transplant.

I feel so blessed to be part of the community around me and I am so glad this blog helps me connect to the spiritual people of the world. (Oh and I am stepping outside of what I am used to and finally posting a picture of myself !) May more doors continue to open as the world reawakens to bloom.

medusa

Spring Solstice? I’m not celebrating till the freezing winds stop where I live. No way has Persephone emerged in the Midwest yet!

However, Medusa has been poking her lovely head into my dreams as of lately and so today I celebrated her in style by painting an original.

To look upon Medusa’s stare can cause you to become stone. Exploring this psychologically, do I have some sense of inner rage still in me stemming from my adolescence (I painted her as a teen)? Am I daring to discover what the world says is forbidden? Am I angry at St. Patrick for driving all of the “snakes” out of Ireland? Or am I just kind of pissy that it’s still cold enough to snow?

Either way, I feel that she brings power by releasing energy that has become pent up, bottled up, stagnated and stale. She is my fire and fang.

keeper of the fire painting“Keeper of the Fire”

I have met a new love and it is infinite with paint.

Painting has become quite a surprising pleasure for me this year. Compositions of plants, gods, magick, love and desire dance in my head. With each paint stroke, I overcome my self-doubt. With each picture accomplished, I realize my ability to manifest creation.

The White Goddess, Raven and Crone

“Raven and Crone”

If you have been wondering what I have been up to lately, this is it! Magick has become swirled paint alongside my normal busy world of family, kids, school, sabbats and songs. The top picture is going to go on a poetry book I am in the process of getting ready for my store, Twitchy Witchy. The other paintings are currently for sale there, too.

“Red Priestess of the Fields”

Me, being the proud mamma I am, had to share my daughter’s rendition of this:

Tulie invited me over yesterday and told me to bring some craft stuff. I had no idea what to bring until an idea struck me… and it was either going to be a disaster or the best idea ever.  Well, it turned out to be THE BEST IDEA EVER….

oracle cards

Materials:  Pack of playing cards (the normal image type)
Colored Permanent Markers

Process: Get into ritual mode… meditate, light incense, whatever you need to do to get into the mindset of sacred connection.

On each card you are going to draw instinctively a picture that is not associated with anything you have seen before. These images should be abstract because they need to tap into your subconscious. Your inner mystic is going to be designing these cards. Don’t think too hard about what you are doing because you just want it to flow out of you unhindered. You do not even need to start thinking about what these images mean, just have fun in the process and bless your deck when you are done.

Tulie and I both did the same deck which was nice because if I were to do it all by myself it would have taken a very long time and my mojo could have ran dry. Also, since I got to take the deck home, I have her energy in it and her subconscious can speak to mine! We plan on doing another deck for her to keep soon.

The Reading:   (the best part)

You can follow any traditional or non-traditional tarot spread that you want. When you spread out the cards, start with them all face down so you can easily focus on one card placement at a time. Look at the card. What intuitive feelings, visions and thoughts do you get regarding the abstract images in relation to the card placement? The idea is to get into the same subconscious, intuitive zone/flow that you were in when creating the cards. Let the images speak to you now. Don’t worry if you think your words are not making sense, just go with it and pretty soon you will see how insightful you really have been. The wonderful thing is that the card meanings can change from one card reader to another. An image may say something to you one time and something totally different another. These images, combined with the traditional playing card picture suits (that originated from Tarot)  will become like mythic symbols ready to transport you into your intuitive journey.

Let me know if you try this and how it goes!

black madonna

January’s Full Moon brought a night of magic and friendship at my seasonal women’s circle. The woman who hosted it rented a room at a historical lodge in our area and she set up “stations” for us to freely travel through while we did our introspective work.  Stations are a great way to keep the energy flowing in ritual by having a liberated sense of how one can go about it. For example, stations include a drumming corner, divination area, fire scrying, altar gazing, meditation mat, journal exploring, art creating, sacred dancing, and more. No matter what size of a group you are working with, people can benefit from the freedom of listening to their inner spirit regarding what to do first.

Before we began she read us a passage about the Black Madonna from a book by the author of Women Who Run With the Wolves and I just have to get my hands on it:

Untie the Strong Woman

Once we separated into our stations I approached the altar filled with Goddess representations that we all brought. A black figurine called to me and I knew it was the Black Madonna. It is a wonderful moment when you connect with something new. Why did she call to me? When new deities approach you take it as a sign that a new message is coming for your life. I welcome change. The Black Madonna called me to the Earth, to be a servant of Love, to give myself to a greater cause. My other blog, Love is My Spirit, reflects this expansion in my Spirit.

Afterwards, I did more research on her and found a powerful and inspiring article about her here.

Then, I painted my own Black Madonna to honor in my home (pictured above). Thrift stores usually are in abundance of the Virgin Mary statues, so it was easy to come across one that could be painted to my liking.

And finally, here is a Virgin Mary picture I painted earlier this month for my step mom:

tw ms 1So I have always been one to do fun things anonymously. When I was a teenager I painted a huge sign that said smile and placed it among a highway. I’ve dressed up in long witchy wig hair and creeped along the cornfields at night. I’ve placed fortune cookie statements in people’s mailboxes and I’ve taped plastic forks with cake pieces on it to lawn gnome hands. I figure I could blog about it because most of you don’t know who I really am and if you do, then you have probably done some of these fun things with me!

Well here is my next adventure in doing free-spirited activities: I made charms I like to call Moving Statements…

tw ms 5

tw ms 3

It is a positive, make-you think statement, laminated and made into a charm with recycled stuff (usually beads). On the back it says, “Keep or Pass Me On…” Hopefully people will see it and take it if they are inclined and either keep it for themselves or continue on the game of passing it on. I’m leaving them in public places. It’s a thrill to leave one. I like to imagine all the positive impacts it could possibly have. Even if it’s someone throwing it away, it still probably woke them out of their mundane routine. However, I doubt people will throw the charms away because they are so durable.

So far I’ve left one on a sink in a hospital bathroom. I’m planning on hanging them from public park trees, dropping them among the grocery store produce, sneaking them into on-sale clothes pockets and leaving them in elevators. Whatever floats my fancy. I’ve made a bunch, so I’m selling them for cheap at Twitchy Witchy, too. Have fun!

Another option: You could even print out your own sayings you want public and tape them up places. It won’t destroy property, but it is still getting out there.
