sum 13 1

I have been excitingly excited over my summer thus far…. thus the unicorn picture of Tulie (lindsey) is deserving of the top spot.  Lughnasadh night was a wonderful time to relax by bonfire with my sabbatt sisters under the stars playing drums and dreaming of underworld animals… but first that day was filled with:

Meandering our way through city streets:

sum 13 2

Our new band, Moon Folk, playing for the runners of a race:

Lug 13 2

Cooking up harvest foods:

Lug 13 1

Playing marco-polo in cornfields:

Honoring our own personal harvests and blessing our current crops in ritual:

Lug 13

And finally! We get to relax by the fire:

Hey everyone who reads my blog! I’ve got exciting news to share with you… After years of songwriting, trance chanting, child lullabying, melody dreaming and noise making I am finally part of a band with my two friends JJ and Tulie (Lindsey)!

We are Moon Folk.  (<<<Facebook page)

And we are beginning to post up YouTube Videos, too! We’ve started to put up chants first and when we get through all of those we will post up our songs, too.

Here is one:

(I’m the one wearing white).

I’ve been so busy rerecording my songs to send to people I know, getting band practices going (still hoping to find someone who knows how to play an instrument other then the drum), finding hidden beach side drum circles, chasing my kiddies around, wading in cold streams and meditating the summer away in my hammock that I’m losing track of the days. I hope you all are having a blessed summer, too!

We are the Ancients

There are beings across the hills

who speak their names through streaming swills:

“Remember, Remember

We are the Ancients

We are the Ancients.

They walk the clouds with their drums

of solid misty darkened hums:

“Remember, Remember

We are the Ancients

We are the Ancients.

It humbles men to hear their call

a sound loud enough to make us fall:

“Remember, Remember

We are the Ancients

We are the Ancients.

A story swept away by centuries

all listen between hoof and wing:

“Remember, Remember

We are the Ancients

We are the Ancients.

Storm song raging in the west

we huddle closely in our nest:

“Remember, Remember

We are the Ancients

We are the Ancients.

Primal blood of the sky

we honor the ancient thunder cry:

“Remember, Remember

We are the Ancients

We are the Ancients.

Where have all the mystics gone and why can’t they be seen?

Where are all the shadow men and singers to the trees?

Why are all these people gathering around a common sound,

When there is so much diversity in the world waiting to be found?

When can I escape to a wooded hidden home

Where folk who speak of magic safely may roam?

Why are those who are gifted  shunned from out of sight,

When we the people need their blessings and  insight?

When can we return to the doctors and the queens

Who can speak from our world into the great unseen?

I call out to the wild of places still unmet

Keep all of your secrets hidden there- because if we knew, we would forget.

Until one day when we all can meet as the lovers that we are,

and make new ways and reinvent how to love from afar,

May we hold our mysteries silent and deep and never surrender to

What others think we should be and what we are supposed to do.

For the path of the mystic can be like a mirror into the moon,

What is reflected is the truth of beauty, but logic taints it too soon.

vending

Finally!!!                                           She is here…

I felt her creeping up through the soil.

I heard her awakening the roots and waiting seeds.

I tasted her in the flowing sap and smelled her in the bird filled breeze.

Persephone: Awakened.

Many new things are awakening now. My spirit arose with the March Moon last night and I blessed my sacred tools in the last winter’s snow. Twitchywitchy has become greatly successful in just one week. I had my first vending event at a woman’s magickal conference over the weekend and my magnets, poetry booklets, paintings, prints, jewelery and painted up knick-knacks were a hit. Yes, you heard right: my poetry book is finished! I took the best of my spiritual poems over the years and combined them into a poetry booklet to nourish the mystic soul. I would have never pursued this project if it hadn’t been for my many friends nudging me along the way to get it out there.

I’m still in the process of posting up more items to my store, so more busy work awaits me but I am finding it so rewarding to be able to inspire others through art. As I got to sell face to face with my customers I was able to hear about the sentimental emotions they had already attached to my handcrafted items. One woman bought a moon painted cow for her wife as a symbol of their closeness. Another woman loved a red painted pentacle bowl and planned on using it to store her flowers she had gotten while in the hospital for a kidney transplant.

I feel so blessed to be part of the community around me and I am so glad this blog helps me connect to the spiritual people of the world. (Oh and I am stepping outside of what I am used to and finally posting a picture of myself !) May more doors continue to open as the world reawakens to bloom.

keeper of the fire painting“Keeper of the Fire”

I have met a new love and it is infinite with paint.

Painting has become quite a surprising pleasure for me this year. Compositions of plants, gods, magick, love and desire dance in my head. With each paint stroke, I overcome my self-doubt. With each picture accomplished, I realize my ability to manifest creation.

The White Goddess, Raven and Crone

“Raven and Crone”

If you have been wondering what I have been up to lately, this is it! Magick has become swirled paint alongside my normal busy world of family, kids, school, sabbats and songs. The top picture is going to go on a poetry book I am in the process of getting ready for my store, Twitchy Witchy. The other paintings are currently for sale there, too.

 priestess of the fields

“Red Priestess of the Fields”

Me, being the proud mamma I am, had to share my daughter’s rendition of this:

Aiyana's red priestess

Tulie invited me over yesterday and told me to bring some craft stuff. I had no idea what to bring until an idea struck me… and it was either going to be a disaster or the best idea ever.  Well, it turned out to be THE BEST IDEA EVER….

oracle cards

Materials:  Pack of playing cards (the normal image type)
Colored Permanent Markers

Process: Get into ritual mode… meditate, light incense, whatever you need to do to get into the mindset of sacred connection.

On each card you are going to draw instinctively a picture that is not associated with anything you have seen before. These images should be abstract because they need to tap into your subconscious. Your inner mystic is going to be designing these cards. Don’t think too hard about what you are doing because you just want it to flow out of you unhindered. You do not even need to start thinking about what these images mean, just have fun in the process and bless your deck when you are done.

Tulie and I both did the same deck which was nice because if I were to do it all by myself it would have taken a very long time and my mojo could have ran dry. Also, since I got to take the deck home, I have her energy in it and her subconscious can speak to mine! We plan on doing another deck for her to keep soon.

The Reading:   (the best part)

You can follow any traditional or non-traditional tarot spread that you want. When you spread out the cards, start with them all face down so you can easily focus on one card placement at a time. Look at the card. What intuitive feelings, visions and thoughts do you get regarding the abstract images in relation to the card placement? The idea is to get into the same subconscious, intuitive zone/flow that you were in when creating the cards. Let the images speak to you now. Don’t worry if you think your words are not making sense, just go with it and pretty soon you will see how insightful you really have been. The wonderful thing is that the card meanings can change from one card reader to another. An image may say something to you one time and something totally different another. These images, combined with the traditional playing card picture suits (that originated from Tarot)  will become like mythic symbols ready to transport you into your intuitive journey.

Let me know if you try this and how it goes!

snow moon

This Snow Moon I trekked to a nearby lake for a hike and a little bit of magic.

Tobacco and apple were given to the Guardian, an ancient Cottonwood who lives upon a hill, and a few healing prayers were spoken to the lake’s water, not quite melted yet from a recent snow. Once deep into the woods I carved out a diagram for myself to stand in and charged it with the directions. I’m not a huge fan of the cold, but snow does have it’s advantage when wanting to draw out circles to stand in.  Incense was offered to the west and a cycle of death and rebirth was reenacted upon the grounds still sleeping undernieth me.

My sacred stones were taken out: The Shaman, The Queen, The Witch. I buried them in the snow, offered more tobacco and resurfaced them to dry in the sun.

February’s Snow Moon is like the last hour of one’s sleep: grasp on to the dreams and visions you have before you awaken! Soon the land will wake-up to the sweet smell of flowers and spring buds new.

The journey of the Heart takes us deep within our souls

and leads us to find that we are reflections of each other.

One year ago from today a friend and I began the blog, Witching Wildwood and it fulfilled my outlet for all things spiritually witchy and kept track of our ritual adventures. Then something interesting happened along the way. The only words I can use to describe it is my heart expanded. I began to feel open to all paths of spirit. I began to see love as infinite.

I still adore the pagan path that I have been on since I was 11. I still honor the Goddess when the moonlight shines pale blue on a field of snow and when a deep cave reveals a secret crevice to me to rest and soak in her silence. I still sing of mystery and magic and feel the pull to greet the summer’s sun with bare feet dancing in dew-drip valleys. I still am a witch, and so Witching Wildwood will continue as always…

And now my spiritual path has led me to focus on something that is so expansive but simple that I felt the need to create an additional blog dedicated to it:

LOVE!

Feel free to join me in my new additional blog: Love is My Spirit

I want to explore love as Infinite Spirit. I want to celebrate people who have radiated this force so strongly that their actions helped shift the world, even if their action was so simple that it influenced just one person to open their own heart. I want to create and experiment with Love by awakening it in my own home, city and world community.

When we truly love, we are in harmony not only with our beloved but with all living things. Love is blind, insofar as it makes no distinctions but extends to everyone and everything.

-Living Yoga, edited by Gearg Feuerstein and Stephen Bodian

I have began dreaming about all different religions. I feel like peeling off a COEXIST bumpersticker and adhering it to my soul. How can I live more alive and serve love? How can I channel this energy that is an extension of the connection between us all? These are the questions I am asking.

In this blog I also post up my public art pieces that inspire positivity. I’m planning on having an adventurous year doing these anonymously in my community and am wanting to feature other people who do the same! Welcome!

Many Blessings for your 2013 and Happy One Year Birthday to Witching Wildwood!

kitchenwitch

This witch is tired of being pushed around.

For two weeks something horrible has ravaged my life, taken refuge in my home and invaded my family… the common cold.

No more! I’m tired of coughing and blowing my nose. I’m tired of feeling crappy and I have finally realized, this sickness is not going away. I cannot wait it out any longer…

Today I have began the battle with this wretched demon in everyway I know how. Out came the candles, the oils, the witch bottles and sacred woods. I put my kitchen witchery to full force.

I began by placing halved onions in every room to clean the air. Then I cut up more for a soup. As I cut, I welcomed the cleansing tears that fell from my eyes and I sang to the onions my deepest desires. A green healing candle was lit, a relic from a Brigid’s ritual done at Imbolc, and I added the onions with 3 garlic cloves to a pot of water. A yellow plate was placed over the pot to help trap the steam and this plate became my altar. On the plate the green candle went, then cleansing and healing magickal herbs were spinkled around the little flame in the shape of a star.

Lemon balm, sea salt, rosemary and thyme

Heal my body, family and creature kind.

I used a peice of lemongrass as a wand and stirred the energy higher and higher until my will was done and then I poured the altar’s plant contents happily in the soup water. While the soup cooked, I readied a potion to cleanse our home:

Cleaning Potion of the Green Vial

Half full of vinegar a green vial holds

In it place skin of onion fold.

Lavendar and sea salt add to the mix

Then oil of grapefruit will do the trick.

For the last, chant in it your desire

While smudging from a pinewood fire.

Then you will drip much oil of thyme

To end this healing magick rhyme.

~By Cicada

Hahaha, you like my little verse? This is a little peak of what my Book of Shadows looks like inside. 🙂

I anointed rags with the cleaning potion and wiped all of the handles, mirrors, windows, keyboards, phones, remotes and lightswitches in my home and by the time I was done with that, the soup was done!

For the rest of the day I am dedicating myself to only eating fruits and vegetables with lots of teas! I hope you all are on the upside to good health and feeling ready for the festive holiday season ahead of us!

Many Blessings
